All guidance material and forms relating to programme approval and management are presented together here, in process order. Unless otherwise stated, these cover both devolved (faculty-based) and non-devolved (collaborative) provision – documents have been flagged where their use is only for either specific approach.

To be used when developing a new taught programme of study for the university. Includes notes which should be read before completing the form electronically.

Fast-track request form 
To be completed by the Head of Studies where a programme needs to be developed at speed to meet the needs of employers or university/faculty strategy.

Panel and participants

Designed to help standardise the content of student handbooks, and the consistency of this content across different programmes and faculties, including guidance from key central departments.

Enhancing Learning through Technology (ELT) programme development tool
This ELT strategy document is designed to enable a dialogue between the programme team and the Faculty ELT Projects Officer/Head of ELT, about the use of technologies in the curriculum. Programme teams are required to complete the form and submit together with draft documentation for sign off by the Faculty Executive.

Equality prompts list and process diagram 
Equality guidance – equality in the curriculum | liberation, equality, and diversity in the curriculum
This information assists teams developing proposed programmes of study to promote equality and prevent unlawful discrimination or harassment in curriculum design. Further information and support is available from the Head of Equality and Diversity.

Library and learning services requirements for new programme(s) (devolved only)
Form to be used to cost information resource requirements and request information and academic literacy support from Library and Learning Services.

Learning resources proforma and guidance for approving/reviewing collaborative provision (non-devolved only)
Guidelines on areas for consideration by validation/review panels when looking at learning resources for collaborative provision, to be read before partner institutions complete the proforma.

Guidance on dealing with under-prepared or weak validations
Outlines the protocols for situations where significant issues are identified prior to the validation.

After the validation

Validation report proforma (devolved only)
Report template to be used by the servicing officer following faculty-based (devolved) validation.

Claim form
Expenses and fee claim form for external advisers on validation panels. The current rate payable to external advisers serving on validation panels is £150 per day plus expenses. The mileage rate for private cars is 45p per mile for the first 100 miles of a return journey and 20p thereafter.
