Statistical academic management information (MI) reports are used alongside other key monitoring information to help module and programme teams review and compare student performance and achievement across the provision they have responsibility for. Feeding into various annual and cyclical quality management processes, the data is used to identify areas of concern that require investigating and addressing, whilst highlighting success stories and good practice which might usefully be shared.
The available reports summarise student entry profiles, module achievement, and programme performance including progression decisions and awards achieved. All types of provision are covered, from undergraduate to postgraduate, including flexible modes of delivery/study. The underlying data source refreshes automatically each day from the live individual student QLS record. Year-on-year trend analysis can be conducted, and the data can be compared in a variety of different ways including across cohorts, semesters, campuses etc.
This section is concerned with the role that the Department of Academic Quality (DAQ) undertakes in managing delivery and use of the statistical academic MI reports used within the quality assurance and enhancement agenda. Please contact Suzanne Nelson for guidance and support in this respect.
Other areas of the university (such as Strategic Planning Services) produce data which is used to aid operational and higher level strategic planning to influence faculty/university decision-making. These departments should be contacted directly for further information about the data they are responsible for.

There is a full range of guides which support the various processes the data feeds into. These provide detailed information on using the data within processes; accessing the data and generating appropriate views; interpreting and analysing the data; exporting and saving; along with explanations for filter use and data item calculations. Click on the left hand side navigation menu to access the content in this section. There is also a quick start guide to the use of data within quality management available for reference.
