Working off campus

Many services available on campus can also be accessed off campus location via the web. Internet access enables users to connect to the main university servers through a secure link from any machine with a web browser.

Services such as the email system, myDMU, Blackboard virtual learning environment and library e-services can be accessed from anywhere in the world.

Although the university does not guarantee 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week availability throughout the year for all systems, services are normally available on this basis.

The access pathways and password systems for web-based systems are the same for on and off campus use. Most students will use their single sign-on password, which gives access to all the main systems through a single window.

Users can choose which particular web browser to use, but services have been optimised for Microsoft Internet Explorer. For Mac users, Entourage has been designed to provide similar functionality to Explorer, although there may be some occasions on which the software does not produce the expected results.
