Equality consultation and involvement groups
What are involvement groups?
At De Montfort University, we have opportunities for both staff and students to have their say and contribute to service improvement, so for example, they might:
-
Discuss and report matters that impact on their experiences of working at
De Montfort University
-
Inform the university of staff management policies, procedures and practices that impact both positively and negatively on their ability to work
-
Provide considered feedback to the university on policies, plans, practices and procedures
-
Inform the development of future equality schemes, actions plans and annual reports
We currently invite lesbian, gay and bisexual staff, black and minority ethnic staff and disabled staff to meet at least once a term. Of course each group operates slightly differently and has different priorities; however each group has identified an agenda of issues to discuss with the university. Members of the senior management team have attended meetings to discuss with group members issues pertaining to their roles and responsibilities at DMU.
Importantly, the intention of the 'involvement groups' is not to focus on any individual cases but rather identify both the good practices and the challenges at DMU.
Notes are kept and published of all meetings, however names of group members are not recorded without expressed permission.
If you are a member of staff who is disabled*, lesbian, gay, bisexual or from a black or minority ethnic group and would like to come to one of the future meetings, please contact the Head of Equality and Diversity| or call 0116 250 6436 and ask to speak to Christine Nightingale or Charlotte Clayton.
