Programmes for specific staff groups

  • The Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (PGCLTHE) is now a requirement for all staff with less than three years experience of teaching in HE and who have no equivalent qualification.
  • Those who completed the PGCLTHE can, if they wish, continue their studies with the MA Education Practice (HE Pathway).    
  • In addition postgraduates who undertake teaching duties are required to complete 'Effective Teaching and Learning at DMU' and M.Phil/PhD supervisors are required to complete the ‘Certificate in Research Supervision’.
  • Following consultation APD are also offering a series of development sessions for Programme Leaders.
  • Scheduled Training this year - The Open Programme. This programme is published 4 times a year in Staff Development Matters. Within this programme we have sessions designed for those new to teaching in HE who are waiting to begin the PGCertHE.
  • We organise conferences, seminars and showcases.  
  • Bespoke Activity We will design and deliver development activities tailored to the needs of module teams, programme teams, departments and Faculties. Sessions include workshops in the supervision of final year projects; student feedback; departmental development plans; marking final year projects and responding to external examiner reports.
