Certificate in Research Supervision

DMU academic colleagues who wish to act as supervisors for research degree students are required to complete the university's Certificate in Research Supervision course.

If you have already completed the CRS three years ago, then you are required to attend a CRS Update session.

Certificate in Research Supervision – Session 1
An Introduction to the role/skills required (experienced supervisors new to DMU may be exempt)

Certificate in Research Supervision – Session 2
This session will introduce the regulatory aspects of research student supervision at DMU.  It will focus on the application procedure, enrolment and registration and outlines the operation of the International PhD programme, the Researcher Development Programme and the Doctoral Training Programmes.

Certificate in Research Supervision – Session 3
This session will consider student monitoring (Progress Reports and Annual Review), Formal Review, Appointment of Examiners and the role of the Supervisor and Internal Examiner in the examination process.

CRS Update

DMU academic colleagues who wish to act as supervisors for research degree students are required to complete the university's Certificate in Research Supervision  (CRS) course (see above). In addition the university needs to ensure that all supervisors are up to date with new initiatives brought in recently. To this end Higher Degrees Committee agreed that all supervisors should attend the CRS Update 'Sharing Good Practice' session on a 3 year cycle. 

The sessions will provide information on recent changes in research degree procedures and student monitoring.
