Research and Industry partnerships
We are proud of the excellent work we do with our partners, which benefits our students, staff and members of the public. Thanks to our many partners students can enjoy an education that is closely developed with industry leaders such as the BBC and the NHS.
Our exciting new partnership with Hewlett-Packard (HP) a global leader in IT will bring about many exciting benefits to DMU. DMU will host industry experts and work with HP to carry out leading IT research in the new HP Academy which will be set up at DMU.
DMU is renowned for the quality and breadth of its research, and much of our work is done in conjunction with our industry-leading partners. For example the unique skin cancer detection tool that could help the earlier detection of malignant melanoma is being developed by DMU and the NHS. The £75,000 project is being carried out in collaboration with the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust’s Dermatology Department.

See the photo’s from our amazing graduation ceremonies, held every year at the Curve theatre. We also run the Theatre Archive Project in conjunction with the British Library, and every year we support Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival, one of Europe’s largest comedy festivals.
Sports at DMU play an integral part of university life to maintain this DMU has formed partnerships with many local high-profile sports teams. We work closely with Leicester City Football Club, Leicester Tigers, Leicestershire County Cricket Club and the Leicester Riders Basketball team. However these partnerships are not solely sporting based, through these partnerships we also look at innovative ways to further our students sporting as well as academic ambitions and achievements.
Clubs such as Leicester City Football Club, Leicestershire County Cricket Club and the Leicester Riders basketball team are all signed up to our ground-breaking Graduate Champions scheme. The scheme sees students from DMU take up paid-placements within these organisations to gain vital work experience, further their career prospects and to foster enhanced collaborations between these institutions and DMU.
