Orange

Communications technology is changing rapidly, opening up new realms of possibility for the future.

The Orange Mobile Telematics Laboratory at De Montfort University (DMU) trains the communications technologists of the future.

The partnership, launched in 2005, has meant students are able to experiment and learn in a state-of-the-art facility that prepares them for exciting careers with leading technology companies and organisations.

Students are able to use Orange’s Machine-to-Machine (M2M) website, a facility used by businesses to monitor their network of connected machines. Orange also provides free data for the students to use.

M2M communications is a growing field, with more and more devices that are able to connect to each other being developed and released all the time.

Orange began as a UK mobile phone provider but is now the fifth largest telecoms operator in the world, providing broadband, content and associated services for consumers and businesses. The company has more than 200 million customers worldwide.
