Celebrating equality and diversity
Our exciting programme of events throughout February will include special theatre performances of acclaimed productions, powerful feature film screenings, crossovers with the Cultural Exchanges festival, events to support the Take a Stand campaign and DMUtalks – offering seminars on topical issues hosted by DMU experts.
It is important to us that we continue to cultivate an environment in which our staff, students and partners have freedom to be, to inspire and to succeed. We are delivering on that commitment through our equality and diversity charter, DMUfreedom, and we recently launched our first ever policy affirming the rights of trans staff and students. In another new initiative, DMU made £1,000 awards available for LGBT research projects.
We are delighted that DMU’s commitment to equality and diversity continues to be recognised in the prestigious Stonewall Top 100 Employers list – an annual audit of workplace culture for LGBT staff.
We are also grateful for the ongoing support of our partners, including the Leicester LGBT Centre, Curve theatre and Phoenix cinema and art centre.
