Today marks the launch of the latest opportunities on offer to students with De Montfort University Leicester’s (DMU) award-winning international experience programme, #DMUglobal.
DMUglobal - for story
Giving students the chance to benefit from valuable overseas learning while they study at DMU, the programme is designed to equip the graduates of tomorrow with the skills which global employers are looking for, including cultural awareness, resilience and adaptability.
After sending almost 2,000 students overseas in 2015-16, this round from #DMUglobal invites students to enjoy destinations across the world including in USA, Italy, Guatemala, Japan and Hong Kong, with trips departing up to March 2017.
DMUglobal - for story three
More than 40 new overseas opportunities are being led by DMU academics and relate to specific degrees across all of the university’s faculties, including undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
Law, as well as Politics and Public Policy, students can explore the Canadian legal and political system in Ottawa, and there is another opportunity for Law students to visit the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg.
Meanwhile, for those in the arts fields, there is a School of Design trip to soak up the beautiful cultural heritage of the Italian city of Turin, as well as plenty of opportunities for Architecture students to be inspired across Europe, including in Lyon, Andalusia and Porto.
DMUglobal - for story two
Creative Music Technology students have the chance to enjoy all the waves on the French Atlantic coast, exploring music innovation in a newly-created trip, while those studying Forensic Science can travel to the exotic location of Guatemala to deepen their understanding of forensic anthropology and DNA profiling in practice.
There are also two opportunities with DMU Square Mile India, DMU’s initiative to support Indian communities in an area of Ahmedabad, in Gujarat, western India, as well as the chance to experience a new language and to learn to teach English as a foreign language on campus.

Winning the Times Higher Education Leadership Management Award for Outstanding International Strategy in June 2016, #DMUglobal is the inspiration behind DMU’s new international strategy 2016-2020, Global Instinct.
This strategy is taking the institution into the world and ensuring that by 2020, DMU is the definition of a 21st century global university.
The next round of #DMUglobal opportunities will be advertised in December 2016, with plenty of summer schools and volunteering choices available for all students.
In 2015-16, students joined worldwide summer schools, including in Madrid, Istanbul, St Petersburg, Seoul, Beijing and Fukuoka.
