Judyta Dabek found her perfect pathway through the Clearing process at De Montfort University Leicester (DMU), when she was offered a place to study Computer Science.
With her heart originally set on studying Mathematics, the first year Computer Science student said: “I’m so happy to have discovered this new path thanks to the Clearing staff at DMU, it’s a perfect fit for me.
“The teaching style here is very clear and I can already see better career prospects than my original route, such as opportunities to go into software testing, data analysis, and computer programming.”
By the time Judyta came to DMU in 2015, she had been working in Leicester for two and a half years, while brushing up on her language skills through English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes.
Although she always wanted to study at DMU, the Polish student was still focussed on building her confidence up through ESOL, when a friend who had already accepted an offer at DMU persuaded her to apply a year earlier than planned.
Judyta could not be happier with starting her degree early and is loving life at DMU, especially being surrounded by ‘like-minded people’.

She has even found time to become the Secretary of the Polish Society and is hoping to get involved in DMU Hackers and the International Society.
The 26-year-old said: “DMU is such a welcoming university with a wonderful campus which I feel I fit in to really well. In fact, I would recommend studying here to anyone.”
She described the Clearing process as ‘surprisingly fast and easy’, adding: “The person I spoke to on the phone was very helpful, sending me all the details I needed on email too, with links to the course information on the DMU website.
“Having left my decision so late, I only had one week to make up my mind, so being able to research the course and future career prospects online was really useful.”
