Free water and 'freshen-ups' for DMU graduates on year's hottest day so far

Nervous graduates-to-be have been keeping their cool on a scorching summer day with free bottles of ice-cold water handed out by De Montfort University Leicester (DMU).

On the hottest day of the year so far, hundreds of students from the Art, Design and Humanities faculty will be putting on their robes and mortar boards in preparation for the biggest day of their academic life.

And to help them all keep cool in the heat, DMU is handing out thousands of bottles of free, chilled water and offering use of a special ‘freshen-up boutique’.

The heatwave which is spreading across Europe has well and truly hit English shores with the temperatures expected to hit a sweltering 31C throughout the day.

But in the air-conditioned Venue@DMU where this summer’s graduations are taking place, the students will be able to concentrate on taking to the stage and become graduates in a spectacular celebration event.

Along with water – which is being handed out at the new-look Graduation Village outside the venue – there is also a freshen-up boutique, at which graduands can get last minute touches done to hair and make-up, making sure they look their best for their big moment.
