De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) is involved in a thriving partnership with the Barclays Premier League team, whose King Power stadium is just a ten-minute walk from the campus, and this includes offering free match tickets to students.

On Wednesday hundreds of staff and students queued through the heart of the campus after DMU announced it was offering 300 tickets for the match against The Potters on Saturday afternoon.

Those who were lucky enough to grab tickets – all 300 were given away in less than fifteen minutes – were looking forward to the match, which will be watched by millions around the world.

Mattia Chicco, a second year Media and Communication student from Italy, said: “I’m actually an Inter Milan fan and this is my first time going to a Leicester City match.

“It is a really good opportunity that our university is offering free tickets and I am really excited for it. I look forward to seeing [ex Inter Milan midfielder] Cambiasso again and I am hoping for a Leicester win!”

Stefano Lattante, a third year Media and Communication student, also from Italy, said: “This is my second time at one of these giveaways – I also got tickets to the game against Sunderland.

“I am really excited and looking forward to it and I hope it will be a good match. The Sunderland game finished 0-0 so I am hoping for a more exciting match!”

Salah Maswoud, a PhD student from Libya, was one of the lucky ones to pick up a ticket. He said: “It’s very good; I’m really delightful and really grateful for the opportunity.”
