When it comes to lingerie, Victoria’s Secret is one of the biggest labels in the world, and one De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) graduate has landed herself the job of a lifetime with them in Hong Kong.
Sarah Wong graduated from DMU in 2006 with a 2:1 in Contour Fashion and Fashion Design, and after occupying several roles within the industry, she is now working with one of the household names in womenswear.

Although technically employed by Limited Brands, Sarah works exclusively on the Victoria’s Secret label which Limited Brands owns. She works as a Technical Designer in the Fashion Bras and Sexy Sleepwear lines.
Plying her trade at Victoria’s Secret’s Hong Kong headquarters, Sarah works on the design and fit of the garments in her relative areas and also spends time travelling to factories in China, where a lot of Victoria’s Secret products are manufactured.
Sarah said: “After a stint working in Hong Kong previously, I moved back home to England and wanted to pursue something there or in Europe. I was looking for new opportunities, with the ever-changing economy and jobs in the industry I was disappointed with what was on offer.
“I was then contacted via LinkedIn about a position at Victoria’s Secret. Their HR team had seen my profile and got in touch with me, and as they say, the rest is history!
“It’s great to work for such a recognisable name in the industry. I have learnt so much from working here and every day I am learning about the industry. Victoria’s Secret has a lot to offer.”
Despite her continued success, Sarah is quick to remember her time at DMU for providing her with the platform upon which she has built her hugely successful career over the past decade.
She added: “I had a great time at DMU, it taught me a lot and I had great course mates as well. What I was taught there has made me love what I do now. DMU prepped me with the fundamental basics of what I do now, the technical aspects of my work.
“I learnt the basic bra and pattern skills during my time at DMU and this became invaluable information and shaped the way I chose my career path. Through that I have built my skills and knowledge through each job I have been at.
“It has been a very interesting journey getting to where I am today. I’ve been very luck with the different positions I’ve held and they’ve all been varied and taught me so much since I graduated. Each job has taken me to a new level of learning.
DMU’s Contour Fashion course is the oldest degree-level course in intimate apparel and is widely regarded by industry experts as one of the best courses of its kind in the world. Other graduates from the course have gone on to work with huge brands including Abercrombie and Fitch, Tommy Hilfiger, H&M and Superdry.
