De Montfort University (DMU) has today announced that it is to leave the University Alliance mission group.
A DMU spokesman said: "Following extensive discussions involving our Executive Board and Board of Governors, De Montfort University has decided to withdraw from the University Alliance.
“Whilst we have found our Alliance membership to have been beneficial up until this point, we now believe it is in our best interests to proceed for the time being without alignment to any particular mission group.
“We leave the University Alliance on very good terms and have nothing but praise for the work of the Chief Executive Libby Hackett and the Chair Steve West, particularly for their support of DMU.
“We will, of course, continue to work with colleagues and partner institutions in the best interests of the entire UK higher education sector.”
