Professor Ian Hunter Inaugural Lecture, Jaws Wide Shut
Reflecting on a career writing about cult films and trash aesthetics, Hunter offers a personal exploration of the meanings, significance and cultural impact of Spielberg's Jaws.
Ian Hunter joined DMU in 1992, having read English and taken a DPhil at Oxford University, and became Professor of Film Studies in 2014. As I.Q. Hunter, he has published two monographs, British Trash Cinema (2013) and Cult Film as a Guide to Life (2016), an edited book, British Science Fiction Cinema (1999), twelve co-edited books and numerous book chapters and journal articles, mostly on cult film, adaptation and 'unrespectable cinema'.
The evening will begin with refreshments from 6pm, with the talk beginning at 6:30pm. A drinks reception and canapes will be available following the event.
