Over the past few weeks contractors have been demolishing the old ceramics blocks and students’ union to prepare for the next phase of our bold and ambitious campus transformation plans.
This work is nearly done, and demolition of these buildings plus the clearing of the site will be complete by Friday 14 March.
After this, there will be a routine archaeological dig of the area before construction begins. This should take around two weeks, and is a standard process when new developments are created in such a historic area as the DMU campus.
Following the completion of archaeological excavations, we intend to appoint a building contractor and start the exciting transformation of the Fletcher tower and surrounding areas in June/July.
We will continue to liaise with students and residents to minimise disruption.
