Watershed Building

DMU has acquired a new building on the river’s edge providing extra sport and leisure facilities for DSU societies and clubs. When complete the one million pound venue, which backs onto the River Soar, will be able to cater for activities such as rowing, five-a-side football, badminton, netball, basketball, indoor hockey, indoor cricket and volleyball, as well as providing space for meetings and activities for DMU’s 100-plus societies. The refurbishment of the ground floor of this former youth club is complete.

The first phase of the project, a new fully FA compliant 3G artificial grass pitch with floodlights, is now complete.

The DMU Food Village

Created in partnership with Chartwells, DMU’s spectacular new Food Village is now open, giving students and staff a new place to eat, socialise and relax. The new space is located in the inspiring centrepiece of the campus transformation project, the Vijay Patel Building.

Open Monday-Friday from 8am-8pm during term time, the Food Village serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, enabling those studying or working after hours to have a place to eat on campus. The new space provides seating for up to 350 people at any one time with benches, sofas and comfortable chairs. USB charging points are available across the space, ideal for charging phones and laptops.
