Roy is a successful businessman and entrepreneur as well as a communications and security specialist with over 30 year’s experience.After an engineering apprenticeship he joined the UK Armed Forces where he completed a successful career in communications and information systems engineering. Following his military career he initially worked as an independent communications and security consultant. He jointly established LIRIC Associates Ltd. During this period he was engaged by the UK Defence Evaluation Research Agency (DERA) to develop the Operational Security Management Plan (OSMP) as part of the new MoD Security Accreditation Documentation Set. The UK National Technical Authority (CESG) licensed him to develop Information Systems Security Policy and Procedures on behalf of the UK Government. He was also the lead consultant doing the design of a highly secure infrastructure for a UK Central Government Building refurbishment project. His work included investigating the harmonisation of government networks and communications; projects included SCOPE, MoD DFN and MoD DII. LIRIC was acquired by Symantec in October 2004. Whilst with Symantec Roy was the VP for Security Services in EMEA and in April 2005 responsible for establishing a Global Government Consulting Services business unit with over 150 staff. In 12 months Roy established two Government services business units in the USA and Europe concentrating on UK, EU & NATO. Roy left Symantec in November 2007. Latterly he has been involved in integrating and developing operational security technologies. His recent consulting engagements include advising on the development and establishment of a National CERT to provide CSIRT, R&A and Awareness services to its constituents.Roy is the Managing Partner of Information Assurance Strategies (IAS) Ltd. an independent security consultancy company and chairman of PragmaticDefence Ltd. A company that providing Pharos the first Operational Security, Cybersecurity Situational Awareness and Incident Response Platform. He is also editor in chief of the quarterly published Digital Forensics Magazine.Roy is currently seconded to the Defence Science & Technical Laboratories (DSTL) organisation as Technical Leader, Cyber & Influence Science & Technology Centre.Roy has qualifications in Communications Engineering & Information Security and is currently researching Cyber Security Operations. He is a Keynote Speaker, Fellow of the British Computer Society, Certified Information Technology Practitioner, Fellow of the Institute of Engineering & Technology and a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists.
