Personal profile

Jillian Pawlyn has a background in Learning/ Intellectual Disabilities Nursing and is an enthusiast and advocate of Technology Enhanced Learning.

During her years as a registered nurse Jillian has developed a specialist interest in the health needs of people with a learning/ intellectual disability in particular those individuals who have Profound Intellectual and/or Multiple Disabilities (PIMD/ PMLD). She is a member of both the national and local PMLD Networks.

In her early research career Jillian’s focus has been on how nurses use eLearning in Professional Education she also has an interest in how technology can widen access to health information and developments in digital health literacy in particular Service User and Carer digital health literacy.

Faculty representative for the Innovative Deployment of Technology (IDT) strand on the HEI Challenge for Patient Supported Quality Improvement and Education in Healthcare in partnership with the universities across the East Midlands and Sheffield. The aim of this project is to stimulate and support the spread of health innovation, innovation in quality improvement, and education for innovation and improvement across the East Midlands.
