Personal profile

Henry has extensive experience of teaching in higher education. He has been a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Roehampton in the Business School. He has taught as an Associate Lecturer at the University of the West of Scotland in the School of Business and Enterprise.

His academic experience includes personal tutoring, supervising, developing, designing, preparing and delivering of teaching, learning and assessment both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Henry's main research focus is on Leadership, Human Resource Management (Employee engagement and employee voice), Human Resource Development (Critical perspective), Voluntary Sector and Community Research. In addition, Henry has great interest in student engagement, assessment and deep learning.

Qualifications

Henry has a PhD in Leadership obtained at De Montfort University, a Master’s Degree (MSc) in Voluntary Sector Management from Cass Business School (City University), Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Human Resource Management with Distinction obtained from the University of the West of Scotland, Postgraduate Diploma in Social Research Methods from University of Roehampton and University Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education from University of Roehampton.

Consultancy work

I have extensive experience providing consultancy services to individuals and organizations in the UK. My areas of consultancy have included Human Resources Management (HRM), Organizational Development (OD), fundraising, strategic planning, operational planning and support, HIV/AIDS, health and social care, leadership development and organizational learning.

Clients have included Divine Mercy Home, Positive Runway, Community Health Action Trust, African Women Care and CAFPH. Thus, I have strong links with the voluntary sector and SMEs in the UK.

For example at the Community Health Action Trust I developed the fundraising strategy that was fluid and dynamic encompassing some marketing plans for the organization. I employed different kinds of fundraising techniques to increase the income of the organization through trust and foundation fundraising, direct marketing, community fundraising and corporate relationship management. This was achieved through research, events, writing project proposals, and in some instances tenders.

I raised £235,000 from the Big Lottery, £140,000 from the Kings Fund (research bid), £12,000 from Lloyds TSB Foundation, £4,000 from Brent Council and numerous other small grants. As a team member, I was involved in securing £50,000 per year for two years from Monument Trust, £60,000 per year for 3 years from Brent Social Services, £90,000 from Brent Primary Care Trust for the community clinic and £100,000 per year for 3 years from the same source for core services.

At the HIV/AIDS Association of Zambia (UK) I also developed the organization and raised more than a Million Pound from various sources.
