Personal profile

Jane is a  freelance textile designer utilising both constructed and printed textile techniques. A personal theme is the combination of traditional and non-traditional materials and processes, her work explores how traditional textile techniques can be applied to unconventional surfaces. 

Jane is  particularly interested in books, ephemera and paper as a material and has made and exhibited non-traditional ‘books’ that refer to her experience of textiles and surface pattern. 

Jane has considerable professional experience as a freelance textile designer and has been represented by a textile agents for many years and has sold work in US, Australia, Japan, Europe and the UK. Jane has experience of working for the fashion and interior textile market as well as working to commission and exhibiting ‘one-off’ textile pieces.

Design Crafts / textiles / paper / artist books and book binding

Areas of teaching

DMU Design Crafts - Year Leader for the graduating year group with responsibility for the degree show and New Designers exhibitions.

Personal tutor to students across year groups and specialist lecturer in textiles.

Previous teaching experience includes 

Joint Course Leader for the BA Design Crafts course at Oxford and Cherwell Valley College. 

Also as a visiting specialist textile lecturer at other Universities and Colleges including Loughbrough University, Northbrook College and Sussex University.
