Entry requirements

You should have a good portfolio, plus one of the following typical offers:

  • 300 UCAS Points
  • Progression or Advanced Diploma with 300 UCAS Points
  • International Baccalaureate: 30 Points
  • National Diploma DMM
  • Successful completion of an Art and Design Foundation Course.

All equivalent qualifications are welcome as are applications from mature students with alternative qualifications and/or work experience. You should have a strong GCSE profile, including English, Science and/or Mathematics at grade C, or equivalent.

Career opportunities

Most graduates go on to qualify as professional architects. Many proceed to the next step in the three-part professional qualification. Graduates readily find employment and many work for leading practices. They also work as architectural assistants or in landscape, conservation, information technology, education and journalism.

Programme

It focuses on studio-based architectural design projects and coursework in design theory, technology, environment, history and urban studies, information studies, (Computer Aided Design) and professional skills. Visits to UK cities of architectural merit, and overseas study tours to places such as Barcelona, Paris and Rome are included.

The first year covers the study of architectural design construction and technology, environmental studies, history and manual and computer-based representational techniques. The second year develops these areas with an emphasis on the urban context. In the third year you will engage with more complex problems and develop a personal approach to architecture. You benefit from multi-purpose studio spaces with extensive CAD facilities and workshops. Our Design Studio combines the latest computer equipment with manual drawing and design techniques.

Teaching/assessment

You will undertake group work, model-making, computing, tutorials, seminars, reviews and exhibitions.
