On arrival - what do I need to do on Registration Day?

Students studying at DMU Leicester campus: please attend your faculty registration event. You will receive details by email from your faculty.

Students studying by distance learning or at a partner institution, you should receive information from your faculty but please get in touch if you have any queries.

Registration Day event

At the Registration Day event you will become an officially registered DMU student. You will be invited to your faculty at a specific time on an allocated date and will be asked to show some ID (usually a driving licence or passport). Once everything is checked and complete, you will be given your DMU student ID which signifies that you are a fully registered DMU student.

International students will also need to visit the international student support team, in Gateway House, to have their documentation scanned and checked before their registration can be completed.

Some students, for example, those studying by distance learning, will not be required to attend the in-person registration event. Your faculty will send you details of any induction and registration-related activity.

Student finance and tuition fees

You should present your Student Loans Company documentation (home students) or make a payment (international students) at the Student Gateway, in Gateway House. We advise that you do this as soon as possible to ensure your fees are paid and any student funding is released to you promptly.

The virtual campus map can help you find the Student Gateway, in Gateway House.

What happens during my in-person induction?

It’s very important to attend all of the sessions scheduled for induction. You will be introduced to your programme of study and meet people who will play a significant role in your studies from within your faculty, such as the Programme Leader and Personal Tutor. You will also be introduced to centrally based university resources and departments that are there to support your studies, such as the Student Gateway, Kimberlin Library, IT support and Library and Learning Services. The induction week schedule will be sent to you by email during the weeks leading up to you starting at DMU.

Is there a map to help me find my way around the campus?

Before you arrive you can get to know your surroundings by looking at our virtual campus map here, which has information about all the main university buildings, facilities and halls of residence. There are also printable maps available.

Where can I get something to eat or drink?

There are lots of great places to eat around the university, including in the Food Village, the Riverside Café, the Kimberlin Library, Hugh Aston Building and Campus Centre, as well as ‘heat and eat’ areas where you can warm up food you’ve brought with you. Find out more about where to find our food outlets, opening times and what’s available.
