GU-RU is a quartet comprising of keys, flute, drums and bass. It is a "bouillabaisse of Cosmic funk, soul and Full-Tilt-Motor-Groove" (FMF), drawing inspiration from diverse artists such as The Doors, Todd Terje, Tame Impala and Herbie Hancock.

How does sound change how we understand order and emotion in prison? This talk is based on an aural ethnography conducted in a local men's prison between February and August 2017, with the aim of exploring the significance of sound in prison society.
